Dry Needling

Dry needling is a form of physical therapy that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points in the body, known as trigger points. The needles are inserted into the skin, but not injected with any substance. This is why it’s called “dry” needling.

The goal of dry needling is to relieve pain and muscle tension by releasing trigger points, which are areas of tightness or knots in the muscles. These trigger points can cause pain, muscle weakness, and restricted range of motion. Dry needling can help to stimulate blood flow, reduce inflammation and improve muscle function.

Dry needling is often used in combination with other physical therapy techniques to help with conditions such as chronic pain, headaches, sports injuries, and muscle tension. It’s performed by trained physiotherapists or licensed healthcare professionals who have been trained in this technique.

It should be noted that Dry needling is different from Acupuncture, which is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the insertion of needles into specific points on the body, called acupoints, in order to balance the flow of energy in the body.

Our therapist at PhysioZone is certified and trained in proving safe and effective IMS/ Dry needling for our clients. They are registered with the CPTBC – Needling Rooster.
